The eyes are the windows to the soul. All too often, however, they seem to reveal exhaustion. The very delicate skin around the eyes tends to get crepey and puffy due to fatigue and stress. Eyelid surgery has become one of our most popular procedures. We also performs scarless eyelid surgery, a technique that involves making a tiny incision inside the lower lid of the eye. The tissue heals so quickly that there’s no need for stitches and hence, no scarring. Topical creams (like Dr. Copeland’s Rewind Eye Formula) can reduce some lines and wrinkles around the eyes almost immediately, even without surgery.
Eyelid Surgery Testimonial
I am so happy with the results of my surgery. I know that its success had a lot to do with your attention and kindness. It’s been a pleasure to come to the office- even when I was a complete zombie. Thanks for everything.

Blepharoplasty NYC - Frequently Asked Questions
What can be done to improve the upper and lower eyelids?
Many patients seek improvement of the area around the eyes to correct puffy bags and loose skin under the eyes and sagging or excess skin on the upper eyelid. Blepharoplasty, also called eyelid surgery or eyelid lift, is a procedure performed on the upper and/or lower eyelids to provide a rejuvenated and alert appearance.
Will insurance cover eyelid surgery?
If you have a severe amount of excess upper eyelid skin so that the fold of skin actually obscures part of your vision, it is possible that your insurance company may pay for an upper blepharoplasty. We advise patients to undergo a visual field test with an ophthalmologist and contact their insurance provider regarding prior authorization. We can help you with this process. Insurance does not pay for lower eyelid surgery.
What kind of anesthesia is used?
We perform blepharoplasty surgery in our fully-accredited operating room suite under “twilight” IV sedation administered by board-certified anesthesiologists to keep you comfortable and safe during your surgery.
Is it possible to have other surgeries performed at the same time as a blepharoplasty?
Yes, it is very common to combine blepharoplasty with other surgeries such as a facelift, or rhinoplasty, and body contouring procedures such as liposuction, or breast procedures.
What kind of scarring can I expect?
There is minimal scarring involved with blepharoplasty. Most incisions are placed in the natural creases of the eyelids to hide the scars. Our postoperative care includes lymphatic massage and topical treatments to help heal virtually scarlessly.
What is recovery like?
Blepharoplasty recovery for most people is not a painful experience and most patients use only acetaminophen (Tylenol) after surgery. We see patients within a week after surgery and include lymphatic massage to help reduce swelling and promote recovery. Pre-op measures like reducing salt intake can help reduce the occurrence of bruising and most bruising resolves within 7-10 days. Heavy lifting should be avoided during this period.
When will I see the results from my eyelid surgery?
Within a week or two you will be able to appreciate the initial results of the procedure, and by six weeks you can expect to be looking refreshed and rejuvenated.
How much does blepharoplasty cost?
At your consultation, you will discuss how the procedure can help you achieve your objectives. You will receive a written quote of the procedures you discussed with a cost breakdown. Often patients will finance their procedures through Carecredit.com or other finance companies.
