Your Brow Lift journey
If you are interested in learning more about brow lift surgery, the first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Michelle Copeland and Dr. Libby Copeland-Halperin. During this appointment, you and your surgeon will discuss your medical history, aesthetic goals, concerns, and expectations for the procedure. They will then examine your eye area to see what type of incision and procedure is best for your aesthetic needs and goals. They will also review specific details about the procedure, including the techniques that could be used, potential risks and complications, and the expected recovery.
If you both agree to move forward, your personal surgeon will design your procedure plan, which you can then take to our patient coordinator to schedule your surgery. You will also be provided with some pre-operative instructions to increase your chances of a successful surgery and recovery.
We perform brow lift surgery in our fully accredited operating room suite. Depending on what you discussed during the consultation, a board-certified anesthesiologist will administer intravenous sedation (“twilight anesthesia”), local anesthesia, or general anesthesia.
Once sedated, your plastic surgeon will start repositioning the brow using the chosen technique. This involves manipulating the skin and tissues of the forehead to align with your aesthetic goals. Once the ideal brow position and forehead shape are achieved, she will close the incisions with sutures or surgical clips. Sometimes, and on an as-needed basis, a drain might be placed to remove any fluids arising from surgery.
On average, a brow lift takes 1-3 hours to perform, depending on the technique used and the complexity of the case.
Your guide to post-Brow lift care
After the procedure, our surgical team will monitor you in the recovery room. Patients are required to have someone take them back home or to their hotel. Our surgical coordinator can also arrange for a nurse to stay with you after the procedure if you and your surgeon prefer.
Most patients report mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort that improves within a few days.
Patients are recommended to take it easy during the first week after the surgery, using ice routinely, elevating their head, and minimizing activity. We see patients within a week after surgery and include lymphatic massage to help reduce swelling and promote recovery. Normal activity can be resumed two to three weeks after the procedure.
As with all surgical procedures, a brow lift results in some scarring. However, the incision area is designed to hide the scars within or at the hairline.
The cost of brow lift surgery in New York City will vary depending on many factors, including, but not limited to, the complexity of your case, the surgeon’s fees, and the operating room and anesthesia costs. The best way to arrive at a cost is to schedule a consultation. During your consultation, you will discuss how the procedure can help you achieve your goals. You will receive a written quote of the procedures you discussed and a cost breakdown. Often, patients will finance their procedures through Carecredit.com or other finance companies.
